The Game II

The garden of Eden is us.

The serpent is the superego.

Constantly reminding us that we’re missing something.

That we’re not enough.

And, we’re tempted to believe this.

That, if we work hard enough, we may be able to rid ourselves of this gap of which we fantasize. This gap which lives symbolically. As a symbol of the conflict between our self identification in contrast with our perception of our big other’s perception of us.

On the other hand…

Love whispers that we’re ok.

That we are enough.

This is Grace.

“You are accepted.”

So everyday we choose.

Either to attempt to appease the superego.

Or to rest in grace.

Adam and eve chose the superego.

And destruction thereby.

Will you choose grace?

Will you rest?

Christ shows us the way to freedom.

Through embracing the gap.

Through facing the darkness.

Vulnerability.

Kicking and Screaming.

Shouting, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

And then.

It is revealed.

The divine is not found in some sacred object.

But in the community of grace.
